#bratcakes Return to Madison
They're baaaaaack!
For some Memorial Weekend is the official kick-off of summer. For those of us at Saris, it's the day we serve brats fresh off the grill, wrapped in a warm pancake topped with syrup (aka: #bratcakes) to a slew of hungry bike commuters during Wisconsin Bike to Work Week.
#bratcakes are set to make their 2016 come-back on Wednesday, June 8th from 7:00 – 9:00am. Just follow your nose and you'll find us. If your nose is directionally challenged check out this map, or navigate your way to the Capital City Bike Path between Monona Terrace and Broom Street, between John Nolan and Lake Monona.
We'll be slinging piping hot coffee from Marigold Kitchen and refreshing Skratch Labs hydration mix alongside our legendary #bratcakes. Vegetarian and gluten-free options will be available too.
Holding strong to tradition in its fourth year, almost 100% of the bratcake supplies will be transported with pedal power. It is Bike to Work Week after all! A mighty crew of cyclists will load up bike racks, trailers, extended bicycles and cargo bikes with everything needed for a fully functioning, #bratcakes-made-from-scratch-with-love commuter station.
We're talking tables, water coolers, cooking supplies, more grills than we've ever hauled in the past - which means more #bratcakes for the masses! In our first year we gave out around 200 bratcakes, then 380, followed by a World Record breaking 673 at last year's event. Help us up the ante this year and come see us on the bike path!
Here's a look at last year's record-breaking #bratcake turnout!
In the spirit of the bicycle, we'll be offering a first-of-its-kind Fast Pass to the front of the #bratcakes line. All you need to do is show your love for Wisconsin cycling. Simply update your Bike Fed membership at the event, or prove that you've updated within the past 30 days, and you'll find yourself with a stomach full of bratcakes in no time.
To top it off, we'll have some sweet Saris swag available for purchase.
A special thanks to our partners: the one-of-a-kind Bavaria Sausage for the brats, Marigold Kitchen for the all-important coffee, and The Cargo Bike Shop for providing cargo bikes to help us make this human powered station possible.
